The Founding Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN), our valuable teacher Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan, was commemorated with an event held on the 10th anniversary of his passing. Prof. Dr. Ali Demirsoy, one of the academicians of Hacettepe University, attended the event held on Wednesday, March 9, with his speech titled “Bio-Geological Perspective on Global Warming”. At the commemoration event organized as a hybrid with the participation of Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan's family, Faculty of Arts and Sciences academic staff, academics from other universities, MOBIGEN students and graduates, the life story of Prof. Dr. Özalpan, his memories with his students and friends were shared with photographs. Prof. Dr. Ali Demirsoy conveyed detailed information about how the layers of the earth we live on were shaped by living organisms living in the past, accompanied by visuals. The event, which focused on the biological basis of global warming, which is one of the biggest problems of our age, solutions for the increase in carbon and methane gases and reducing their emissions, and our responsibilities, ended after the question-answer session.
