Dear Students,
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, which was established in 2007, aims to educate individuals who are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge in various sub-branches of Molecular Biology and Genetics, who place importance on research and development and aim to produce solutions for social needs. In addition to our undergraduate education program, Master's and Ph.D. programs were opened within our Department in 2011 and 2014 respectively.
Our Department has fully equipped research and student laboratories that are adorned with the latest technology and used to develop and teach new techniques. Within the scope of Molecular Biology and Genetics sciences, the Department has adopted a curriculum that is delivered by expert academic staff to raise qualified people in the fields of genetic engineering and biotechnology.
The Program, which includes academicians who are experienced in their fields, passionate about science, open to innovations, follow current scientific developments and lead these developments, creates an increasing number of projects every year that provide major opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in scientific research activities.
We differ from other Molecular Biology and Genetics Programs in Turkey in that we enable our students to write a thesis as part of the Graduation Project course and prepare scientific projects within the Research Project course; we provide students with the opportunity to apply to national and international (TÜBITAK etc.) projects and perform their applications in our laboratories under the supervision of our academic staff, especially in the undergraduate education program. In addition, during their undergraduate education, our students acquire the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge they can use in their academic and professional lives after graduation. They can also take active roles in the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club to improve both their professional and social aspects.
In our Program, we provide students with the opportunity to closely follow current scientific developments and education in European universities within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program and with the seminars given by expert researchers and academicians who are invited to our University from around Turkey and abroad. Successful students of the Department also have the opportunity to participate in the Double Major and Minor Programs.
