The project titled "Determination of DNA Methylation Profiles of Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr] Boron Transport Genes under Boron Stress", led by Assist. Prof. Sinan Meriç from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN), was deemed entitled to receive funds with the call code 223Z207 as a part of the "TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Module".  We congratulate the IKU faculty member and wish them further success in their project.

Ayşe Simay Metin, our post-graduate student from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, participated in the 3rd International Congress on Scientific Advances (ICONSAD'23) with an oral presentation titled "Investigation of the Effect of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles in A-498 Renal Cell Carcinoma Cell Line with Increased STAT5 Expression", which includes the results of her thesis study conducted under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Özge Rencüzoğulları. We congratulate our advisor and our student and wish them continued success.

Ebrar Karakaya, a master’s student of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, participated in the Ankara IX International Scientific Research Congress with an oral presentation titled "Examination of the effects of oleandrin on HEPG2 Liver cancer cell line", which includes the results gathered from the thesis study carried out under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Özge Rencüzoğulları. We congratulate the supervisor and the master’s student and wish them further success.

A webinar event was held with the joint efforts of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN) and the Library and Documentation department, about the scientific research and educational resource platform JOVE, on Thursday, December 7, 2023.  Curriculum Specialist and a representative of the JOVE platform , Melita Parlak participated in the event as a speaker.  In the event, in which the IKU Head of Library and Documentation Department Yasemin Balcı and the Deputy Head Senem Güneysu also participated as speakers, extensive information was given on accessing JOVE res

A seminar titled "Alternative Methods in the Treatment of Bacterial Infections" was held by the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics on Friday, November 17, 2023. Dr. Nazlı Ataç from Koç University İş Bankası Infectious Diseases Center, attended the event as a speaker offering in-depth information about new generation of study strategies in infectious diseases.

A seminar on "Occupational Health and Laboratory Biosafety Rules" was held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, for students conducting their projects in the research laboratory of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN). In the seminar given by İKÜ Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Cumhur Gültekin and Assist. Prof. Sinan Meriç from MOBİGEN, the working conditions of research laboratories and the rules that are to be followed when working in a laboratory were explained in detail.

Aleyna Ekinci and Muhammed Dereci, our students of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, participated in the international congress titled "Plant Evolution in a Changing World" organized by Justus-Liebig Giessen University in Giessen-Germany between 23-26 August 2023 with two poster presentations.

The project titled "Research on the role of the anti-obesity drug orlistat in tumor microenvironment and lipid metabolism-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transformation and apoptosis in a co-culture model created with pancreatic cancer and mature adipocyte cells", conducted by Assist. Prof. Pelin Özfiliz Kılbaş from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN) has been entitled to receive funds by “TÜSEB 2023-A4-02” callsign. We congratulate our academic and wish her continued success.

Redesigned "Organic Chemistry Laboratory" of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was inaugurated by IKU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. by Gülce Öğrüç Ildız on Tuesday, May 9th after the opening speech made by The Head of IKU Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Prof. Dr. Seyhan Altun. The opening ceremony was attended by IKU Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Çimen Atak, IKU Secretary General during the organization of the laboratory, Assist. Prof. Ethem Tarhan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Assist. Prof.

A conference titled "BİLİM-SIZ", organized for the third time by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club, was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. The conference, which was widely participated, was started off with the opening speeches of IKU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Çimen Atak, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Prof. Dr. Seyhan Altun, Club Advisor Assist. Prof Pelin Özparmak Kılbaş and Club President Kerem Yasin Yıldızhan.
